Diwali celebrations at Radha Govind Dham 2018

A large crowd of people recently gathered together at Radha Govind Dham DC on the auspicious occasion of Diwali, the Festival Of Lights. This day marks the triumphant return of the Supreme Lord Shree Ram and the Ma Sita to Ayodhya, amidst celebrations marked by lighting of lamps by the residents of Ayodhya. Everyone was filled with excitement for celebrating Diwali for the first time at Radha Govind Dham, which was filled with beautiful decorations of lights, flowers & rangoli done by loving Devotees. The celebrations began with prayers and blissful chants celebrating the arrival of Prabhu Shri Ram & Mata Sita to Ayodhya at the end of a 14 year exile. All Devotees participated enthusiastically in the soul-stirring Kirtans. Right after that, everyone performed Bhagwan Ram’s Abhishek with the Jaikar and Chants being sung in the background. This was followed by a video of a Divine Discourse given by Shri Kripaluji Maharaj explaining the significance of Deepavali. Next there was a cultural program where both adults and children performed beautiful traditional dances, followed by Mahaprasad & Laddoos lovingly and generously prepared by Devotees. The event came to a close with everyone enjoying sparklers & fireworks, a big part of Diwali celebrations in India.

Gita Classes @ RGDDC

Radha Govind Dham DC recently organized interactive Gita classes conducted by Swami Nikhilanand Ji. Many people attempt to read the Gita everyday, but although they find inspiration in its verses, they are unable to clearly comprehend the underlying  philosophy. Swami Nikhilanandji used the teachings of his Guruji, Jagadguru Shree Kripaluji Maharaj, to help people understand the essence of the Gita, clear any confusion and answer questions that may have persisted for years.
As Swamiji explains, in this course, the  overview of the primary teachings of the Gita is more important than the memorization or detailed study of individual verses, which is what sets this course apart from other Gita classes. Chapters 1 and 2 of Bhagwad Gita were covered during the week long session. In this course, participants learned the most important concepts of each chapter and gained an overall understanding of what the Gita is and how its philosophy is important in our lives. The course was also notable for its interactive format which encourages participants to ask questions. Kids were introduced to the spiritual concepts of this widely read and respected scripture, Youth were excited to find the answers to questions that may have gone unanswered in the past, and Parents were excited to gain the knowledge that would enable them to answer their children’s questions in the future. Each day, after the introduction and Kirtans, the group consisting of kids, youth and adults, received the knowledge of Gita from Swamiji. They were also provided worksheets for each chapter of the Gita, to help them remember the key points covered. Additionally, everyone reviewed their knowledge by playing a game of Jeopardy with questions crafted around the lessons of that day. The enthusiasm of the participants was evident by the fact that the kids won the game during most of the sessions. The class concluded with a final question and answer session with Swamiji and the Arati.
A special thanks to all the generous Devotees who brought delicious dishes that were served as Mahaprasad at the event. As a result of the great response received from all of the participants, Radha Govind Dham DC will be organizing the next set of interactive Gita classes soon in the upcoming year.
